Zoltan Bathory made a guest appearance on Whiplash with Full Metal Jackie on Southern California’s 95.5 KLOS radio station discussing Five Finger Death Punch’s upcoming album ‘F8’.
In the 20-minute interview, Zoltan gives fans the lowdown on the upcoming album release on 28 February 2020, F8 as well as his excitement of Five Finger Death Punch heading to The Forum in Las Vegas for the first time.
On the approach to F8:
Zoltan discusses the approach to the bands eighth album, which he describes as a pivotal point in any bands career where established bands usually seek to reinvent themselves or change something around their sound.
It’s an approach he describes that happened organically for Five Finger Death Punch whilst writing the album, and was in part driven by the bands changed dynamic and new found focus since Ivan Moody committed to sobriety.
Musically, he says the result is that the new album sounds and feels more focused, solid and just a little bit different.
On incorporating new elements into the Five Finger Death Punch sound:
He also talks about how the band has approached incoroprating new musical elements and ideas without disrupting expections of familiarity that Five Finger Death Punch fans expect.
It’s a process he describes as challenging and akin to a big chess game but one the band has approached with a new found energy and by looking at albums as an “event” rather than just twelve songs.
As a result, this covers everything from the artwork to music videos to the themes the band explores in their music.
On the foundations that the band hopes F8 will lay for the future:
Here Zoltan reflects on F8 being a new era and chapter for Five Finger Death Punch as the record marks the first release for the band on its new record label.
With the band line-up solid he is excited about what the future has in store for Five Finger Death Punch; sober, focused and with a new found energy.
