Word has it that Five Finger Death Punch is sitting on an unreleased song recorded during the sessions for the band’s latest album, 2022’s AfterLife.
As guitarist Zoltan Bathory tells ABC Audio, the track is set to feature an unnamed guest artist, but it’s been held up due to music industry-related legal issues that often come up in regard to collaborations.
“There were some unsolved or unresolved legalities around the track,” Bathory says. “Right now, it seems like it’s resolving and we’re gonna be able to put out the song.”
Had those issues been resolved ahead of AfterLife’s release, Bathory says the original plan was to put out the song as the album’s lead single before deciding to shelve it.
“Because it is so difficult to deal with this giant infrastructure of various artists that we were like, ‘You know what? Let’s just not risk it,’” Bathory recalls. “‘Let’s wait for all the paperwork to be done, and then we put it out.’”
A year after AfterLife dropped, Bathory hopes that the song will finally see the light of day. “Then, it that case, we will amend [AfterLife] and put [the song] out as a single,” he says.

Five Finger Death Punch is currently gearing up for the next round of tour dates with Metallica on the M72 World Tour. The tour restarts in November 2023 with shows in St Louis and Detroit.
Metallica’s ‘M72’ world tour is featuring two-night stops in nearly two dozen cities. Presented worldwide by Liquid Death and Blackened American Whiskey (in North America only) and promoted by Live Nation, the 46-show trek launched in Amsterdam on 27 April 2023 and comprises shows all over Europe and North America through to 2024. Each ‘No Repeat Weekend’ on the ‘M72’ world tour will feature two completely different setlists and support lineups.
The tour features a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed Metallica Snake Pit to centre stage, as well as the ‘I Disappear’ full-tour pass and the debut of discounted tickets for fans under 16 years of age. Other opening acts for the tour include Pantera, Mammoth WVH, Ice Nine Kills, Architects, Volbeat and Greta Van Fleet. The European Leg of the world tour also featured esteemed dutch metal acts Epica and Nightwish’s Floor Jansen.
