Five Finger Death Punch’s return to the M72 Word Tour with Metallica hit another unfortunate road block with Ivan Moody falling ill on the fourth show of the US run. You surely have to feel for Ivan at this point, with hernia surgery putting a stop to their entire European M72 support run as well as festival shows and headline shows in Mainland Europe.

Instead, fans in attendance got to witness Howard Jones (Light The Torch, Ex-Killswitch Engage), Phil Labonte (All That Remains) and AJ Channer (Fire From The Gods) take on vocals.

A short time before the bands performance in Los Angeles on Metallica’s M72 World Tour, the band posted an official statement stating, “To our friends in L.A.! Ivan fell ill with a terrible flu and won’t be able to perform tonight. We are grateful that our good friends Phil Labonte (All That Remains),Howard Jones (ex-Killswitch Engage, ex-Light The Torch and Sion) and AJ Channer (Fire From The Gods) are stepping up and will take over his vocal duties for what will surely be a special show. Join us in wishing our brother Ivan well. He’ll be back very soon.”

And if you check out the fan-filmed videos below, you’ll see that it ended up being one hell of a special show show indeed!

Fun Fact: This is the second time Phil has stepped in for Ivan. He helped the guys finish a tour back in 2017. Coincidentally, he also filled in for Howard back in his Killswitch Engage days (if you’re old enough to remember “Philswitch Engage”!⁣)

FFDP UK wishes Ivan Moody a speedy recovery and return to stage for the next stop on the tour.
