Five Finger Death Punch (5FDP) bassist Chris Kael has opened up about life on the road, backstage chaos, and the highs and lows of rock stardom in a candid new episode of the Beardo & Weirdo Podcast. Kael, who has spent years touring with Five Finger Death Punch, shared shocking tour stories, hotel antics, and insider insights alongside comedian Craig Gass.

The duo delved into the unpredictable world of touring, sharing hilarious and sometimes bizarre encounters.
Chris Kael discussed the experience of touring in different countries, highlighting how 5FDP receives overwhelming support from fans outside the U.S. He recalled arriving at hotels in Mexico, during Five Finger Death Punch’s stadium run with Metallica, to find fans waiting all day and night just for a chance to see the band, likening the reception to the level of excitement usually reserved for pop superstars.
Whilst, Gass reflected on a story from his youth when he, as a 15-year-old fan, met legendary bassist Rudy Sarzo and unexpectedly spent two hours talking with him. The full-circle moment came years later when Sarzo, now a fan of Gass, recognised him backstage at a show, showcasing how things have a way of coming back around full circle.
Scammers and Fake Social Media Accounts
One of the most serious discussions in the episode was Chris Kael’s frustration over fake social media accounts impersonating him and other musicians. He warned fans about scammers who pose as band members to trick people into sending money, often by offering fake VIP packages or claiming personal emergencies. Kael emphasised that he would never directly message a fan asking for money and urged listeners to only trust official band sources for offers and interactions.
He also pointed out the downside of social media platforms allowing users to purchase verification checkmarks, making it easier for impersonators to appear legitimate. This growing problem has led to fans being misled, reinforcing the need for extra caution online.
