Are you ready to take a trip back to 2006 with Five Finger Death Punch’s original MySpace bio? See how the band introduced themselves to the world as an unsigned band.
In 2025, Five Finger Death Punch (5FDP) celebrates their 20th anniversary, marking two decades of making their mark on the heavy music scene with their signature sound. As part of our ongoing archive project (which you may have seen on Instagram), we’ve uncovered a true gem of nostalgia. It’s ONLY 5FDP’s original MySpace bio from 2006! Yes, MySpace, the social media platform that once ruled the internet, where bands connected with fans long before Facebook, Instagram and Twitter took over.
MySpace’s role in 5FDP’s rise
MySpace was a crucial tool for up-and-coming bands in the mid-2000s, and 5FDP was no exception. The platform allowed them to connect with a rapidly growing fanbase and showcase their music to a global audience. Their presence on MySpace generated significant buzz, ultimately playing a role in securing their first record deal. After showcasing a couple of songs via Myspace and similar networking sites, the band instantly struck a chord with the underground metal community, and became a word of mouth phenomena. It’s also how Zoltan Bathory initially connected with Ivan Moody via MySpace messages! In an era before streaming services dominated, MySpace provided an essential launching pad for bands like 5FDP to gain traction and industry attention.
This blast from the past offers an authentic look at the band’s early days before they were signed and in the period leading up to the release of ‘The Way of the Fist’.
Anyway, without further ado, here’s the full, unedited MySpace bio from 5FDP’s inception. It’s a great read and we think we have our suspicions on which band member may have written it.
5FDP’s 2006 MySpace Bio
Soon our publicist will let you know when we’re gonna storm your town, destroy the scene, leave trails of dead bodies, emerge from the underground, bring on the revolutionary new sound and create a category of our own, and of course give 110% (Let us know if we left any of the stupid clichés)
Verbal abuse and melodic slander is taken care of by Ivan – most of you probably know him from his previous band – Motograter (Elektra) – n’ if you saw him rippin’ it up on Ozzfest or anywhere else – ya know he’s a fuckin’ madman…
Zoltan the crayZee Hungarian bringing you the shreddage on da’ geeetar… Before he formed 5FDP – he was kickin’ up dust in U.P.O. (Sony/Epic/Drt) and a long row of European metal bands… His grand grand grandfather Attila the Hun was already bad news with only one string on his bow, …this fucker has six on his… and your mum has at least a dozen other good reasons why she doesn’t want you to talk to him…
The drummer is Jeremy Spencer… He’s the maniac behind the sick fuckin’ double bass shreddage on that “Extreme Metal Drumloop” CD that’s out there (www.drumsfromhell.com) – he has recorded albums for a buncha’ peeps you probably know, and W.A.S.P. hired him to “drum like a beast” at one point… When it comes to pushin “pedal to the metal” – he’s ‘Da Man” …
On Bass – we got Matt Snell (SnEllvis the King) when he’s not clubbing down baby seals – haha just kidding – (I knew that would get your attention) lol… Right… so Matt was in Deadsett, then underground fave Anubis Rising… I think you can still find some of those records through Century Media… but then again why dontcha just wait for the 5FDP record so u can hear what this sick fuck can do to a bASS….
On the otha’ Guitar Caleb is choppin wood… The kid is only 19 years old, but spent the last 14 chewing on Yngwie Malmsteen guitar tabs… A freak of nature really…
Why we love this MySpace bio
We’re sure you’ll agree, this Myspace bio perfectly captures the raw energy and attitude of 5FDP before they became one of the most recognisable names in heavy music. Their humour, aggression, and sheer determination were evident from the start. And lets face it, who wouldn’t want to give their music a spin based on that bio!
We hope you enjoy this trip unfiltered glimpse into the early days of Five Finger Death Punch and where it all began on MySpace!
Stay tuned for more exclusive 5FDP content and throwbacks, keep an eye on our site and socials as we continue to celebrate 20 years of Five Finger Death Punch.
