5FDP bassist, Chris Kael, has been honoured as a lifelong Kentucky Colonel.
According to the Kentucky Colonels website, the position of Kentucky Colonel is the highest title of honour bestowed by the Governor of Kentucky. It began in 1813 during the second term of Govenor Issac Shelby after he returned from leading the Kentucky Militia on a highly successful campaign during the War of 1812.
The Kentucky Colonels is a non-profit charitable organization, and those named as colonels, are people who “go that extra step in kindness, goodwill and pride in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.”
Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine, KISS’s Tommy Thayer, Black Label Society’s Zakk Wylde and Judas Priest’s Rob Halford have previously been honoured as Kentucky Colonels.
Kael, revealed the news via social media on Sunday 4 July 2021, commenting, “I am OFFICIALLY Colonel Kael now,” revealed the bassist. “Thanks to @mikespears83 and @govandybeshear for making this happen.
