According to 5FDP’s Zoltan Bathory, a throwback to the sound of the bands first three albums is on the cards…
Knuckleheads, the wait is officially over. If the latest Zoltan Bathory interview with 93X’s Kevin Kellam is anything to go by, the upcoming Five Finger Death Punch new album is going to be an absolute monster.
As Death Punch approaches an incredible 20 years on the scene, Zoltan opened up about the band entering that legendary “legacy” status. But don’t think for a second the boys are slowing down or getting comfortable. While their massive new single “Eye of the Storm” is already tearing up the rock charts, Zoltan promised this is just a taste of a much bigger roller coaster.
5FDP Album 10: A Throwback to the early years
For those of us who have been here since day one, this next part is pure gold. Zoltan revealed that 5FDP Album 10 is a massive nod to the raw, heavy era that started it all:
“This album is a little bit of a reach back to the first three. The first three albums [were] a little bit more aggro, a little bit more raw, less produced. So we kind of went back to that formula… we wanted to capture that original fire that started the band in the first place.”
Balancing fan expectations with a new sound
Addressing how the band balances fan expectations while still pushing their sound forward, Zoltan didn’t hold back. He shut down casual critics who think every Five Finger Death Punch song sounds the same, comparing the core Death Punch Nation to true connoisseurs:
“Our real fans, the ones who listen to the deep cuts, they know the difference. It’s like a beer connoisseur—they can taste every single ingredient. We always want to progress and try new things, but we also know exactly who we are. We owe it to the fans to keep those heavy, hard-hitting barn burners at the core of what we do.”
Five Finger Death Punch backing LA 2028 Athletes
It wouldn’t be a 5FDP record without the band using their platform to support a massive cause. Known as one of the most charitable forces in heavy music, Zoltan shared their latest mission: raising crucial funds for Olympic and Paralympic athletes ahead of the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles:
“We’ve always stood behind our veterans and first responders, and this is another extension of supporting our country’s finest. These athletes sacrifice everything to represent us on the world stage, often with very little financial support. We want to use our voice and our platform to give them the backing they deserve.”
From 20 years of classic anthems to a gruff, heavy-hitting new era—the Death Punch empire is stronger than ever.
