This is not a drill. Five Finger Death Punch do a Taylor Swift and are set to drop 2025 versions of their best loved hits.

Five Finger Death Punch (5FDP) is officially marking two decades of dominance in the hard rock world with a powerful new release: Best Of – Volume 1. Arriving on Friday 18 July 2025, the album features 14 completely re-recorded versions of their biggest hits – plus three bonus live tracks -and signals a bold new chapter for the band as they reclaim control of their legacy.
The decision to re-record came after the band discovered that their original master recordings had been sold by their former label – without their knowledge or a chance to buy them back.
Speaking on the bands response and the music industry more generally, 5FDP’s founder and rhythm guitarist, Zoltan Bathory, said, “We would have loved to have a shot at reclaiming our masters, or at least to be involved in the transaction but we found out after the fact.
Surprised, but not surprised. These kinds of behind closed doors deals have become far too common in the music industry. Labels buy, sell or trade artist’s work without their knowledge or consent, reducing them to soulless commodities.
But life is a chess game so when this happened to Taylor Swift, she responded by re-recording her catalogue. After that respectably bold move, her fans switched to streaming the new version out of protest and loyalty. We have one of the most hardcore and loyal fan bases on the planet so I know our fans will do the same.”
Rather than simply remastering or remixing the originals, 5FDP has fully re-recorded fan-favourite tracks with the high-octane energy and refined production that defines their 2025 sound. Songs like ‘The Bleeding,’ ‘Bad Company,’ ‘Wrong Side of Heaven,’ and ‘Jekyll And Hyde’ have been reborn, offering both long-time fans and new listeners a fresh and powerful experience.
The first offering from the 20th Anniversary Edition, in a poetic coincidence happens to be titled “I Refuse”, a fan favourite that was always meant to be a single. This reimagined, re-recorded version of “I Refuse” now features guest vocals from Maria Brink of In This Moment. It’s not the first time that 5FDP has collaborated with Maria Brink. Long time fans will remember Maria’s iconic duet with Ivan Moody on ‘Anywhere But Here’ from 2014’s, ‘The Wrong Side of Heaven, Volume 1’.
Zoltan Bathory explained the story behind the bands collaboration with Maria Brink in a recent interview with Lou Brutus of Hard Drive XL Radio, “We have a story for you. This song always was meant to be a single. When the record came out, we had a bunch of singles already. There were just too many, good problem to have too many radio singles, right? And so it was always kind of a pain that this never made it to radio.”
“And because we were doing the 20th anniversary record, there was the perfect opportunity. Like, ‘Hey, you know what? Let’s rework this song. Let’s re-record this, and let’s get our old friend Maria, who we toured with many, many times.’ So we’re good friends. We did a feature before together, so it was a perfect opportunity to lend this song. Finally, finally, what it was meant to be.”
In addition to the new single, fans can already stream ‘Jekyll and Hyde (2025 Version)‘ and ‘Bad Company (2025 Version)‘ on all major platforms. These early releases give a taste of what to expect from the fully re-recorded Best Of – Volume 1, showcasing the band’s modern production power while preserving the grit and emotion of the originals.
‘BEST OF – Volume 1-‘ drops on Friday 18 July 2025 and Five Finger Death Punch fans can get ahead of the game and pre-order the new release via ffdp.lnk.to/bestofvol1.
A special-edition merchandise collection to commemorate the band’s 20th anniversary is also available now in the Five Finger Death Punch’s official webstore.
